Two workshops, one standard.

HexJaw started in a 40 m² unit in Sheffield in 1987 sharpening and re-hardening other people’s tools. Re-hardening teaches you exactly where a tool fails, so in 1994 we started making our own — and stopped taking outside work.

The Rotterdam floor opened in 2003 to serve mainland trade accounts. Both sites run the same drawings, the same tolerances and the same batch stamps. A part from either floor is interchangeable.

How we work

StageWhat happens
StockCertified CrV and cast iron, mill certificates kept on file per heat.
MachiningGround after heat treat — never before. Threads rolled, not cut.
Inspection100% dimensional check on drivers, batch sampling on fixtures.
FinishBare or black-oxide. No decorative plating.

People

Eleven on the floor, three in the office. We take one apprentice per site per year and expect them to stay — most have.

Warranty

Lifetime on drivers and fixtures against breakage in normal use. Send it back with the batch stamp intact; we replace and tell you what failed.
